Grata spent most of her life overweight. Then, over the last year and a half, she lost 104 pounds using GLP-1 medication.
She thought reaching her goal weight would be the finish line.
It wasn't.
"At first I had body dysmorphia very badly. When I looked in the mirror, I still saw my overweight self."
Slowly, as she got used to seeing a smaller version of herself, something else came into focus. Her skin. Loose. Wrinkled. Left behind by the weight that used to fill it out.
"Although I was down to the weight I wanted to be, I was still embarrassed to wear shorts, skirts, or dresses because my legs were a wrinkly mess."
This is the part of a weight loss journey nobody puts in the before-and-after post.
You hit the number on the scale. You catch your reflection in a shop window and actually recognize yourself. And then you look down and the skin tells a different story than the mirror does.
